Global Indian International School’s new Singapore campus, designed by EDI, redefines modern international education with innovation, sustainability, and a strong sense of place.

The architectural concept draws from the idea of a bird’s nest—a protective shell with a nurturing core. Its signature curved buildings form a central, traffic-free oasis for performance, play, and gathering, sheltered by a translucent roof. This vibrant outdoor hub features a waterfall, rain garden, and stage, anchoring student life and memory. The terracotta-tiled façade, developed using custom algorithms, mimics the textures of a nest while offering passive solar shading. The nest is also literal—greenery at multiple levels supports migratory birds, fostering real-world biodiversity learning.

To make a large school feel personal, the campus is organized into Small Learning Communities (SLCs) of 160 students. Each includes classrooms, collaborative zones, and teacher planning spaces, designed to support flexible, project-based learning.
Positioned around key vertical connectors and specialty spaces, the layout minimizes travel and maximizes interaction. The eight-storey secondary school features glass elevators with panoramic views of the architectural nest. A skybridge links primary and secondary wings, forming an iconic gateway to the campus. With its biophilic design, community-centered learning model, and environmental integration, GIIS Singapore sets a bold new standard for future-ready education in Asia.
