The Early Childhood Learning Center at Col·legi Montserrat in Barcelona is a pioneering educational space designed for student-centered, inquiry-based learning for children aged 3 to 5. Rooted in Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, the center supports project-based, cooperative, and personalized learning in an immersive, play-driven environment.

Rejecting conventional classroom layouts, the renovation introduces a fluid architectural design featuring an undulating central pathway that connects three themed community zones inspired by Barcelona’s natural landscapes—the ocean, mountains, and forest. These biophilic learning zones stimulate creativity, curiosity, and exploration.

Flexible, age-appropriate furniture and adaptive learning spaces encourage movement, collaboration, and discovery—empowering young learners to grow through meaningful, hands-on experiences that reflect their unique strengths.
